The Windward Islands lie at the southern end of the Caribbean chain, tropical and volcanic, with a distinctly French flavor, they are an exotic mix of misty rain forests and pristine white beaches set against a sparkling blue sea.
Martinique
Martinique with its French Creole and African heritage is a cosmopolitan blend of boutiques, cafes and charming bistros on an island full of lush vegetation, abundant waterfalls, and some of the most awe-inspiring vistas in the world. Relaxed and unspoilt, Martinique offers a taste of Europe in the Caribbean.
St Lucia
St.Lucia is a rich combination of high mountains covered in forests and white sandy beaches. In fact, the two towering volcanic cones on the southwest coast, Gros Piton and Petit Piton are some of the Caribbean’s most famous landmarks. Surrounded by the Atlantic on one side and the Caribbean on the other, the steep coastlines and beautiful reefs offer excellent diving and snorkeling, as well as some of the best deep sea fishing in the world. Drop anchor in Marigot Bay, one of the most stunning in the Caribbean, for a sundowner before heading ashore to one of the small restaurants for the catch of the day.
St. Vincent and The Grenadines
The Grenadines are still relatively unspoilt and quiet as a cruising destination yet they offer great sailing for every ability level. With the volcanic island of St.Vincent heading up the chain, 32 other islands and cays stretch away southwards as far as Grenada. Fantastic scenery, isolated beaches and beautiful anchorages are there for you to enjoy as well as exotic sea life and vivid corals. Visit the fabulous Tobago Cays protected by a horseshoe reef or the jet set island of Mustique – the great thing is that wherever you are, another island is no more than a 3 hour sail away.
